NeoSpeech Is Now OndaLabs: What the New Name Means
NeoSpeech is now OndaLabs, an AI voice studio. Learn what the new name covers, what you can make, the current plans, and how it differs from NeoSpeech Inc.
NeoSpeech is now OndaLabs. OndaLabs, found at ondalabs.app, is an AI voice studio for text to speech, two-speaker dialogue, speech to text, custom voices, image generation and music generation. The older company called NeoSpeech Inc. is a separate business, so the two names overlap but should not be confused.
If you searched for NeoSpeech and landed here, this post explains what changed, what the product does today, and how to tell the two companies apart.
What OndaLabs does today
OndaLabs describes itself as the new name of NeoSpeech. The product's core is 30 prebuilt voices that speak every supported language, plus two speech models. Onda Lite is included on every plan. Onda Flash is available on paid plans and is the more expressive of the two. Dedicated text to speech pages cover 37 languages, from Arabic to Estonian.
The studio also covers two-speaker dialogue, transcription, custom voices and image and music generation. Which of those you can use depends on your plan.
What changed with the new name
The most visible change is the product name. Accounts that still show the older plan names are the other change worth knowing about.
| Item | Under the NeoSpeech name | Under OndaLabs | |---|---|---| | Product name | NeoSpeech | OndaLabs | | Plan names on older accounts | Personal and Superior, still on some accounts | Mapped to Starter and Pro for feature access | | Plan names for current plans | Not applicable | Free, Starter, Creator, Pro, Business |
On accounts that still show Personal or Superior, the studio gives Starter or Pro feature access. The code that does this only maps the names. It does not show that prices, credit balances or saved clips carried over unchanged, so check your Billing page after you sign in.
Two different companies named NeoSpeech
NeoSpeech Inc. was a text to speech vendor based in Fremont, California. Wikipedia's NeoSpeech entry describes it as a US subsidiary of the Korean firm Voiceware. Its engine was called VoiceText, a unit selection synthesizer used in AAC devices, games, public paging, e-learning and language apps.
The brand no longer stands alone. ReadSpeaker's own account of NeoSpeech says: "Today, NeoSpeech no longer exists as a standalone provider." It says the technology continues inside ReadSpeaker. Wikipedia also traces the ownership chain through Pentax and HOYA, and HOYA acquired ReadSpeaker in 2017.
The table below separates the two.
| | NeoSpeech Inc. (older company) | OndaLabs (formerly the NeoSpeech product) | |---|---|---| | Type | Text to speech software vendor in Fremont, California | AI voice studio at ondalabs.app | | Core technology | VoiceText, unit selection synthesis | Onda Lite and Onda Flash speech models | | Typical uses | AAC devices, games, public paging, e-learning | Voiceovers, dialogue, transcription, custom voices, images, music | | Current status | Brand folded into ReadSpeaker | Operating as OndaLabs |
No source used for this post ties OndaLabs to NeoSpeech Inc., Voiceware, HOYA or ReadSpeaker. If a page or message suggests otherwise, treat it as unverified.
What you can count on today
These are current facts from the OndaLabs site and terms. They describe the product now. They are not a claim about what stayed the same through the rename.
- You own the input you submit and the output you generate, according to the terms.
- A Free plan exists, with 2,000 credits a month.
- Commercial use is included from the Starter plan up.
- Usage is metered in credits. Onda Lite costs 1 credit per character and Onda Flash costs 1.5.

OndaLabs vs NeoSpeech Inc.: how to avoid the mix-up
Use these checks when you read about the company or the product:
- Look for the domain. OndaLabs is at ondalabs.app.
- Look for the product. OndaLabs is an AI voice studio with 30 prebuilt voices and two speech models.
- Look for the history. NeoSpeech Inc. and its technology are described on Wikipedia and in ReadSpeaker's own account.
- Do not assume a link between them. None of the sources used here connects them.
What you will see in the studio
The studio's sidebar groups everything into three sections. Home, My voices, Voice library and Clip library sit at the top. Products come next: Text to speech, Dialogue, Speech to text, Images and Music. The Workspace section holds Subscription, Billing and Settings.
Text to speech is the usual starting point. It has a voice picker, a model choice, a Style and Expression control for each script block, and a download button for finished clips. Dialogue reuses the same voices for two-speaker scenes. Speech to text transcribes uploaded audio, with files up to 25 MB.
The studio is signed-in only. If you visit it while signed out, you are sent to the login page, and the Free plan starts after you create an account.
If you have an older account
Accounts created under the NeoSpeech name may look different from new ones. A short checklist helps you confirm where things stand after you sign in:

- Open the Billing page to see your credit balance. It shows the total and how many credits come from packs.
- Open the Clip library to find saved clips. Free accounts keep up to 5 saved clips.
- Check My voices. The page shows how many of your plan's voice slots are in use.
The terms say you own the input you submit and the output you generate. For questions about a specific account, use the contact address on the site, hello@ondalabs.app.

Frequently asked questions
Is NeoSpeech now OndaLabs?
Yes. OndaLabs describes itself as the new name of NeoSpeech, and the site is at ondalabs.app. The older NeoSpeech Inc. is a different company, covered in the comparison above. Check the domain when you are unsure which one you are dealing with.
Why did NeoSpeech change its name?
This post does not give a reason, because none is published in the sources it uses. Any explanation you read elsewhere should be checked against an official statement. Wikipedia and ReadSpeaker's own page cover the history of the older company.
Is OndaLabs the same company as NeoSpeech Inc. or ReadSpeaker?
The sources used here do not link OndaLabs to NeoSpeech Inc., Voiceware, HOYA or ReadSpeaker. The names overlap, so treat them as separate businesses unless an official source says otherwise.
What is OndaLabs and what can it do?
OndaLabs is an AI voice studio. It makes text to speech audio with 30 prebuilt voices, two-speaker dialogue and speech to text transcription. Custom voices, which you can clone or design, need the Creator plan or higher. Image generation starts at Starter and music generation starts at Creator.
Is there still a free plan?
Yes. The Free plan gives you 2,000 credits a month, which is about 2 minutes of speech on Onda Lite. It includes expressive tags, dialogue, speech to text and 5 saved clips. Free is meant for personal use and testing, so commercial use starts at Starter.
